» Services
» Technologies
I program in PHP, mysql, javascript, and Perl, usually on linux / unix based hosting platforms. Common applications I deal with are e-commerce (shopping carts), listing databases, forums / bulletin boards and web forms. I often deal with existing (someone else’s) code, or purchased software that includes source code. In addition, I’m a reseller for authorize.net (a leading online payment processor), and Sunshop.
» System Administration
Unlike many programmers, I have years of experience maintaining, monitoring, and updating linux / apache (web server) systems. This gives me a deeper perspective when troubleshooting issues. It’s especially helpful working with clients who have dedicated servers, doing site migrations, DNS moves, etc. If you need someone with a wide skill set in web technologies, I can help!
» Rates
My hourly rate is $75. I will gladly estimate any work you need. Read the about page to learn more about how I work. Please contact me to discuss your specific needs. Note: I have moved away from giving hard quotes in favor of billing for actual time. I will provide an estimate and do my best to stay within that range.
» A People Person
Many technical people have prickly personalities - they are arrogant, condescending, and difficult to work with. You will find that I am the exact opposite.
» Local
If you are local to Lansdale, Harleysville, Hatfield, Souderton, Philadelphia and surrounding areas, I can meet you onsite to discuss your needs.
» News
I started compiling a rolling list of articles that might be useful for website owners - here

Project: Sunshop performance
Date Completed: 03/2012
Overview: Sunshop caching
Description: Client site was slowing down during specific parts of the day, usually when new products were posted. I rewrote some of the code to cache parts of the site and reduce database hits. This improved performance during peak times, and the client didn't have to upgrade their server.
